50. Actually Count (Cycle 4 ep. 8)

You know what’s always a good challenge? That one where they make the girls practice interviewing each other to prepare for their future careers as illustrious entertainment reporters. Like that’ll happen. Then again, if challenge judge Jann Carl can find a steady job in the field, I suppose anyone can do it.

Well, anyone except for Christina and Tatiana who have each developed a weird speech pattern. Although they’re not saying “like” every word, each sentence is peppered needlessly with the word “actually”. 

It’s to the point where in a matter of seconds, the girls collectively say “actually” 7 times, as scored by ANTM’s convenient tally. Finally Jann Carl (I’ll keep writing her full name at each mention since this post will probably be her only mention on the internet in all of 2011) intervenes and forbids them both from using the word “actually” anymore. The girls both laugh at what ditzes they are, and then when Christina asks the next question, the first word out of Tatiana’s mouth when she goes to answer is, “Actually…”  And she’s not kidding.

Reflecting back on the interview, Christina even says, “It’s a lot more difficult than you actually think it is.” Now if Christina is joking, I can’t tell because she always comes across like a robot to me.

Later, when Jann Carl (you go, girl!) reveals the challenge winner, she uses the word “actually” while describing the prize and the show adds the same chime sound effect to show us that Jann Carl is an idiot, too. Actually, we already knew that.
